A - Auto-message. This allows you to display and, if allowed, to change the
Auto-Message seen when users first log on.
B - BBS list. This will allow you to display other BBS numbers and to add
other systems to the list.
C - Chat Room. This puts you in the Chat Room. You can send messages to
other users, page the Sysop, request a private chat with other users and
block messages from other users. Type a ? to see all of the commands.
D - Default change. This lets you set a number of user-selectable features,
such as your screen size, ANSI or text menus, password, color selections,
signature macro, screen pauses, and the conferences you want included in a
Newscan.
G - G-files. This puts you at the main prompt of the "general text" files.
Each Section may have several different text files. You can select a
section and then read an individual file by selecting it's number.
I - Info About system. This will display any information about this BBS
that the sysop has included, such as BBS Rules, etc.
L - List Callers. This displays a list of users who logged on today.
O - Off the system. This logs you off the BBS.
/O - Log off immediately without confirmation and Logoff Message.
S - Sysop Chat. If used during "Sysop Available" hours, a chime is sounded
at the BBS to attract the attention of the Sysop. During other hours you will
be given the opportunity to leave feedback to the sysop.
T - File Transfers. This command sends you to the File Transfer menu. You
can search, list, upload & download files from that menu.
U - User list. This displays a list of users of this BBS.
W - Who's On/Chat. This will display users currently online and allow you
to enter the Chat Room.
X - eXpert mode. This will toggle OFF/ON the display of the menus after
each prompt. For efficient operation, you should turn menus off.
Y - Your info. Information about your account.
. - External Applications. This command will display the Externals menu
where you can select other applications to run. These are additional items added by each sysop and the number and type may vary from system to system.
? - This Menu. This will display the Main Menu.
Control O - This displays On-line Help.
Control T - This displays the current time, the time you have been on-line,
and your time remaining before forced logoff.
Spacebar - Abort. This aborts a text listing. If using a high speed modem, text may continue to be displayed until the modem's buffer is emptied.
MESSAGE COMMANDS
----------------
F - Follow Thread. When reading a message with replies, you can read each
successive reply to this "thread" of messages. The L-ast Message command
will display previous message(s) in the thread.
J - Jump to a new message Forum. You will be shown a list of available
forums and will then enter the forum number you wish to go to.
K - Kill E-Mail/Messages. This command allows deletion of E-Mail or messages (in this conference) previously sent. The BBS will first ask if you want to delete E-Mail or messages. If you want to delete messages, it will then show a list of smessage you have posted and you can then select the message number to delete. If you want to delete E-Mail, the BBS will display each piece of mail you have sent and allow you to read and delete each one.
N - Newscan. The Newscan will scan all conferences and show each new
message. You can select the conferences shown from the D-efaults menu.
P - Post. This will allow you to post a message in the conference you are
currently in. You should select the appropriate conference number before
typing P to post.
Q - Quickscan current conference. This will display all new messages on the current conference.
R - Read Message titles on the current conference. The BBS will first ask
you what message number you want to start from and will then give you the
titles of the next 20 messages from the number entered. You can then enter
the message number to read or type T for another 20 titles..
Z - Express newscan. This will read new messages on all selected message
conferencess, but without pausing between messages.
* - List all conferencess in the current Forum that you have access to.
# - Typing a number will send you to that conference number.
+ or - The + and - commands will send you to the next higher/lower message
conference in the current Forum. You can also use the > and < commands to
go to the next higher/lower conference.
] or [ This will advance you to the next higher/lower message forum.
$ - Search Messages. This allows you to quickly search all the messages on
the BBS for any "key word". You can search the "To", "From", "Title" and body
of text.
//Upload - This allows you to upload up to a 30k text file for insertion into
the next message or E-Mail. You will be presented with the upload commands to transfer your text.
//Qscan - This allows you to reset your new message scan date. The BBS will
prompt you to enter the month/day/year. Your new message scan will then
include all messages posted after midnight of the date entered.
//Catchup - This resets your new message scan to show all messages as "read". After doing this no new messages will show up during a Newscan.
MAIL COMMANDS
-------------
E - E-mail Send command. You will be able to send mail to other users.
The BBS will ask for the name or number of the person you want to send mail
to and then will ask for the title of the message before putting you in
the text editor to enter the text. You can access your personal Address Book by typing a ! and you can add a name to your Address Book by putting a ! character at the beginning of the name when sending E-Mail.
F - Feedback. This enables you to send a letter to the sysop. If the BBS
has more than one person set up to receive feedback, you can select which
person to send the mail to.
K - Kill E-Mail/Messages. This command allows deletion of E-Mail or messages (in this conference) previously sent. The BBS will first ask if you want to delete E-Mail or messages. If you want to delete messages, it will then show a list of smessage you have posted and you can then select the message number to delete. If you want to delete E-Mail, the BBS will display each piece of mail you have sent and allow you to read and delete each one.
M - Mailbox Check. This lets you read mail addressed to you.
/E - E-mail to more than one user. This will let you send the same piece
of mail to up to 20 different people. The BBS will prompt you for the names
or numbers of all the people you wish to send the mail to.

SYSTEM COMMANDS

Y - Your Transfer Stats. This displays transfer info such as number
and size of files uploaded and downloaded, etc.
? - This displays the Transfer Menu.
= - Transfer Administrators. This lists any users that have administrative
control of various Areas or Directories and will likely answer questions
regarding files in these locations.
Control O - This displays this context-sensitive On-line Help display.
Control T - This displays the current time, the time you have been on-line,
and time left.
Spacebar - Abort. This aborts a text or file listing. If a high speed modem
is being used, text may continue to be displayed until the modem's buffer is
emptied.
B - Batch Commands - This will show you a sub-menu of the batch transfer
commands.
D - Download a file from the current directory. You may enter global filename
characters, such as "Herm", and each matching file will be displayed for download. If you do not wish to download it, hit "O" to bypass it or "Q" to Quit.
U - Upload a file to the current directory. You will be prompted for the
filename, a short description and an extended description (10 lines maximum).
You can then select the transfer protocol and start the upload. A ? at that prompt will show all available protocols.
R - Remove file. This will allow you to remove a file (and credit) you have uploaded to the current directory. You will be prompted for the filename and then shown the file and asked to confirm the deletion.
Z - Upload to the sysop. This command works like the U-pload command except
that the file is automatically placed in the Sysop transfer directory, and
is not accessible by other callers.
FILE SEARCHING
-------------
F - Find Description. This command will search for matching text in the
descriptions, and if selected from your Transfer Defaults, the extended
descriptions as well. You will be prompted to enter the text that you want
to find. You can enter a partial name as the BBS will list all files that
match the text whether a full name or not.
J - Jump to Area #. This allows you to go to another transfer Area. The BBS
will show you all Areas and you then enter the Area number you want.
H - Areas/Directories. This shows a listing of all Areas and Directories,
and can help you find a specific file transfer directory.
L - List Files in Directory. This will list matching files in the current
directory. You will be prompted for the full or partial filename and can enter any part of a name and the BBS will return all matching text in the filename. If you want to list all files in the directory, enter a carriage return.
S - Search for matching files in ALL directories. You will be prompted
for the full or partial filename. You can enter any part of a name and the
BBS will return all matching text in the filename. If you want to list
all files on the BBS, enter a carriage return.
N - New Scan all Directories. This will list all new files since your last
logon. You will be prompted whether to list new files in the current
directory or the entire BBS.
P - Set New Scan Date. If you wish to see all new files after a certain date,
enter the starting date for the new file search. Then when you enter N to
scan new files, the date used will be the date you just entered rather than
the date you last did a new file scan. When you enter the date, you must
use two digits each for the month/day/year.
* - List Directories. This command will list all available directories in
the current transfer Area.
# - Number. Enter a number to go to that transfer Directory.
+ or > Advance to the next higher/lower Directory. You can also use + or -.
] or [ Advance to the next higher/lower Area.

/A-ction Word User: Allows you to send an Action Word text string. Enter
a /A, a space, the Action Word, another space and User name. To designate
the Target User you can enter the full or partial name, the user number or
the # symbol followed by the Node Number. e.g. /A welcome john smith.
You can leave off the Target User and you wil be the one doing the action.
/B-lock Messages: Allows you to block/unblock all messages from users.
/L-ist Action Words: Lists available action words used with /A command.
/M-essge to User: Allows you to send a private message to another user.
/P-rivate Chat: Allows you to enter a private chat room with other users.
/R-edraw Screen: Redraws ANSI Chat Room box
/S-ysop Chat: Pages Sysop by ringing chat call at BBS computer.
/T-ext\ANSI Chat: Switches display from ANSI to Text Chat Room display.
/U-sers Online: Lists all users on the BBS
/- Scrollback Buffer: Lists previous pages of text in ANSI Chat Room.

Here you may change certain information about your terminal and the way you
want the BBS to respond to you. The options are:
1. Screen size. The standard width is 80 characters and the standard height
is 24 lines. This is used to format messages for your screen size.
2. ANSI graphics. If your terminal supports ANSI graphics, you should
have this option set ON. You should also set your terminal to display
PC ANSI and color.
3. Pause on screen. If you are using a high-speed modem, information may
scroll off the screen faster than you can read it. By turning pauses on,
the BBS will pause after each screenfull of text is sent. Hitting any key
will cause the BBS to send another screenfull of text and hitting Q will
quit the display.
4. Mailbox. You can forward your mail to another user or to a network
address by selecting this option and entering EITHER the user that you want
your mail forwarded to or the FULL network name and address to forward your
mail to. In order for the network forarding to work, this BBS must be
connected to a network.
5. Screen Clears. This toggles screen clears off/on. If you have screen
clears on, before a menu or text is sent a screen clear is sent. This
results in the old text being removed and new text starting from the top
of the screen. If screen clears are off, additional text is just added
to the end of the previous text.
6. Configure Q-scan. This lets you identify which conferences you want to
include in your Newscan of messages. You will first select a Forum and then
toggle the conferences on/off. Any conference with the * symbol before the
number is included in the Newscan.
7. Change password. This option allows you to change your current password.
You will be prompted for your present password and then will be asked to
enter your new password twice for verification. Be sure to make a record of your new password or you won't be able to access your account.
8. Notify login/out. This toggles the notification on/off. If you have
"Yes" selected, you will receive notification of other users logging on and
off the BBS. If "Off" is selected, the notification is suppressed.
9. Computer type. This shows the computer type you have indicated previously.
If you select this, you can change the type.
10. Scan New Messages at Logon. If this is set to "Yes", each time you
log on the BBS you will ask if you want to scan for new messages addressed
to you. If this is set to "Off", the prompt is suppressed.
11. Change Signature. Selecting this will allow you to change your BBS
"signature" that is entered with the /ESP command in messages and mail.
You can have a 1 line signature that may include ANSI colors.
12. Column Display Mode. This will toggle the listing of conferences,
transfer directories and G-Files between a 1 column/2 column display.
Any lists of 5 or fewer items will always be shown in a single column.
13. Edit Address Book. This allows you to enter names in your personal
address book that can be used to automatically enter a name/address when
sending E-Mail.
14. Chatroom Type. This lets you select the ANSI or Text Chat Room as
your default selection.
15. Message Headers. This gives you several options for display of
ANSI/text "headers" with message forums and conferences.
16. Transfer Headers. This gives you several options for display of
ANSI/text "headers" with file transfer areas and directories.
17. Change Colors. If you have the ANSI graphics option enabled, you can
select the colors you would like displayed for prompts, questions, etc.
You can also change the "User Defined" colors that will be available to
you when you post a message or send E-Mail.
18. Message Text Color. This allows you to change the default color used
when you post a message or send E-Mail.

This feature enables you to send the same piece of mail to up to 20 different
users. Enter the name or number of each user on a separate line and then
enter a carriage return on a blank line to end the list. Then you will
enter the message title and text just as in a regular piece of mail.

You now are entering the title of a message or mail. The title should
be a one-line description of your message.

You are being asked to enter either the full or partial name to search for.
Normally you should only enter the "core" part of a name since different
spellings may keep the file from being shown as what you enter must exactly match some part of the filename. To show all files, enter a carriage return.

You now have a listing of all mail sent to you. You can enter the number
of the piece of mail you wish to start reading from, or you can just hit
enter to read all the mail starting at the first piece.

You are being asked where to start listing the titles of messages. You are
given total number of messages in the conference, and you may start the
listing at any number between 1 and the number listed. The BBS will then
show you the titles of the next 20 messages. From that point, enter the
message number you want to read or T for another 20 titles. Entering Q will
quit the title scan and take you back to the Main Menu.

If you type Y for yes, you will be logged off the BBS. If you do not want
to log off, type N for no.

You are being asked to enter a date for new files. The date you enter here
will be used when you do a new file search ("N"). The files listed in the
search will be any that were uploaded on or after the date you specify.

You are being asked to identify a user. You may enter the user's name or
user number. You may also enter only part of the user's name followed by a
*, and the BBS will search through the user list for the first user matching
that name.

This allows you to remove a message you have posted. You have been given
a list of messages you have posted on the current conference, and you should
now enter the message number you want to delete.

This is the "message read" prompt. In the prompt line at the bottom of
the screen, you are given the range of message numbers, the last message
number you have read and the the number of replies to this message.
Your options are:
<Carriage Return> - This reads the next message.
# - Entering a number will read that message number.
A - Auto-reply to last message. This will let you send E-mail to the
person who wrote the current message you are seeing now.
B - If you are in a Newscan, this will advance you to the next conference
without reading any further messages on this conference.
C - Continuous display of all further messages in the selected conference.
D - Download a file attached to this message.
Q - Quit to the the Main Menu.
R - Write a public reply to the last message.
T - List the titles of the next 20 messages.

After entering a filename to upload, the BBS will check for for a duplicate
filename and invalid characters. If the name is accepted, you will be asked
to verify you want to upload the file. If so, you will be asked for a one-line
description of the file. After entering the description, you will be asked if
you want to enter an extended description (up to 10 lines in length). After
leaving the extended description or entering N to not leave one, you will
be asked what protocol you would like to use for the transfer. Enter "?"
for a list of protocols available. After you enter the protocol number,
the BBS will wait for you to start sending the file.

The Node Commands prompt allows you to:
C - Enter the Chat Room. Here you can chat with other users online.

The Auto-Message is read by all users when they first log on. You can do
the following at this point:
R - Read the current Auto-Message.
W - Write a new Auto-Message if the sysop allows users to do this.
A - Reply to current author of the Auto-Message. This will send mail to
the author of the Auto-Message.

To download a file, you must enter either the full or partial name of the
file you want to download. The text you enter must exactly match either
all or part a file on-line. For this reason it may be best to either copy a filename if you have just searched and found the file, or to enter just a part of the filename. The BBS will individually show all filenames that match.
After the BBS finds the first matching file, you will be given information
about the file including size and estimated time required to download.
You will then be asked what transfer protocol to use. Enter "?" for a list
of protocols. If you do not wish to download this file, hit "0", and the
BBS will continue to show the next matching file until there are no more
matches. Type Q to Quit to the Transfer Menu. If you decide to download
the file with ZMODEM Batch protocol, it will be added to a "queue." When
you wish to download the files marked for Batch protocol, from the download
main menu hit "B" for the Batch Download commands.

Enter any text followed by a carriage return to search for matching text in
the descriptions of files. The BBS will also search through the extended descriptions if you have enabled this from your Transfer Defaults.

The Batch Download menu gives you 4 options:
D - Download the files marked for batch download.
L - List the files marked for batch download.
R - Remove a file from the queue (by its number).
C - Clear the batch queue.

If you have sent E-mail to anyone, here you can scan through each piece and
read or delete it. If you decide not to send a piece of E-Mail after sending it, just press the "D" key when that one shows up.

Here you may select which directories you want included in a Newscan of the
of the transfer section. In the list, a "*" before the directory indicates
that that directory will be in your scan. You can toggle the directories
on/off by entering the directory number.

Type R to read the BBS list and A (if allowed) to add a new BBS to the list.
When adding a new system to the list, you will first be prompted for the
phone number, then enter the BBS name and comments. After that you will be asked for the maximum modem speed of the BBS and a 4 character system type.

This command will allow you to move a file from the current directory to
another. You enter either the full or partial filename and the BBS will
give you the first match and ask if you want to move the file. If you
answer yes, the BBS will ask what what Area and then what Directory you
want the file moved to.

At the Reply prompt you you have the following options:
Q - Quote text from previous message. To quote text, enter the beginning
line number, a dash, and the ending line number. You can enter multiple
entries to quote on a single line. If you add an B or Q after the line(s)
to quote, this will enter a blank line and quit the quoter respectively.
T - Title Change. This will allow you to change the current Title.
R - Redirect Reply. This will allow you to enter a new user name/number
and your redirect the reply to that user.
<Carriage Return> - A carriage return will allow you to enter the message
editor to write your message.

Your options, for each piece of mail that you have waiting, are:
D - Delete the piece of mail. Also deletes any attached file.
I - Ignore it. Keep it in your "mailbox" so you may read it later.
R - Re-read the letter.
A - Auto-reply to the letter. This deletes the letter and any attached file,
and allows you to send a letter in reply.
S - Save the message and reply to it.
F - Forward the mail. This allows you to forward the current piece of mail
any any attached file to another user.
Q - Quit out of mail read, leaving the remaining letters in your mailbox.

If you want all new mail addressed to you forwarded to another user, you
should now answer "yes". You will then be prompted for the name or number
of the user that you want to receive your mail. If you want your mail
forwarded to a network address, enter the complete network name and address.

You can now change the foreground and background colors for your account.
The colors used are determined by the category listed on the left and the
current settings are listed to the right of each category. You will be
prompted for the foreground color, background color, intense or normal
color, and whether you want the text underlined.

This command allows you to remove a file that you uploaded. The file must
be in the current directory. You first enter the full or partial filename,
then the BBS will show you the first matching file and ask if you want
to remove it. After answering, the BBS will show the next matching file.
Any file that you remove will also delete the upload credit for it.

This command allows you to rename a file that is on the BBS. The file you
want to rename must be in the current directory. You should enter either
the full or partial filename and the BBS will show the first matching file.
You will be asked if you want to change the filename, description and the
extended description. A carriage return at any of the prompts will leave
that part as it currently is.

This menu allows you to set your transfer section defaults. You can set
the following:
1 - This allows you to select your default file transfer protocol. If you
select a default protocol, a carriage return will select this protocol
when transferring.
2 - This toggles off/on the option to automatically do a Newscan of the file
transfer section after you complete a message Newscan.
3 - This toggles off/on the extended description listing when you Search or
List files.
4 - This toggles off/on the addition of the extended descriptions when you
select the Find Description command.

The G-Files contain text files that you can read on-line. The G-Files are
arranged in two levels; "Sections" and then "G-Files" within each section.
At the first level you should enter the section number you wish to enter,
then you should select the actual G-file number you want to read. Entering
a question mark will show you the sections or G-Files as appropriate. To
navigate from within a section back to the top level, type Q (Q-uit).
